Frequently asked questions about the throne
What is Internet Monarchy?
Internet Monarchy is the only monarchy on the internet: one web page with one throne. Whoever paid last is king or queen of the internet, and their name, a decree of up to 140 characters, their flag and an optional link are shown to every visitor until someone pays more. Think of the Million Dollar Homepage, but with a single seat and a crown.
How do I become the king of the internet?
Press the claim button, choose your royal name, write your decree, pick your flag (and a link if you like) and pay the current price by card or crypto. As soon as the payment is confirmed you are crowned, and you reign until someone outbids you.
How much does the throne cost?
The first throne costs US$10. After that, each new monarch pays the highest price ever paid plus 10%, at least US$1 more, rounded up to the whole dollar. The price never goes down, which is exactly what makes the crown worth having.
What happens if two people pay at the same time?
Your price is held for 30 minutes from the moment you open checkout, as long as you start paying within that window. Every confirmed payment crowns its buyer in the order payments are confirmed, so if someone pays just before you, you still take the throne right after them and your reign may be short. Being outbid is part of the game and is never refunded.
Can I pay by card or with crypto?
Both. Card payments are processed by Creem, which acts as merchant of record and sends your receipt. Crypto payments go through NOWPayments: you are crowned once the payment is fully confirmed, which can take a few minutes. A partial crypto payment does not crown anyone and is reviewed by hand.
What can I write on the throne?
A royal name of up to 32 characters and a decree of up to 140. No insults, sexual content, hate, scams, gambling or anyone's personal data, and links only go in the link field, where they are checked for safety and shown with nofollow. Visitors can report a decree; if the royal moderators hide it, you keep the throne but there is no refund.
Can I get a refund?
There are no refunds for being dethroned or for a decree hidden for breaking the rules: that is how a throne works. If you were charged twice or by mistake, write to us from the contact page. A refunded or charged-back payment loses its reign, which disappears from the royal archives.
How long does a reign last?
Until someone pays more. There is no time limit, so a reign can last minutes or months. The royal archives remember the longest reigns, the most generous monarchs and the whole line of succession, and if you are dethroned we send you one email so you can take the crown back.
